In September, The Venice Gondolier Sun honored business women across the area at the newspaper’s annual Women in Business event, which was capped off when the attendees were presented with the newspaper’s special section about them and other female leaders across the area.
Among them was Ellen Hillstrom, who was honored with a special Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ellen is well known in South Venice. After retiring as Executive Director of the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce in the late 1990’s, Ellen became Development Director of the SVCA and then was a founding Trustee of the South Venice Beach Endowment Trust. During those years, she wrote a weekly SVCA column for the Gondolier. Although Ellen has become legally blind, she is never one to slow down. Now President of the Venice Chapter of the Florida Council of the Blind (VCFCB), she continues her Gondolier column advocating for that organization. Congratulations Ellen! We’re proud of you.
